Bangladeshi caught with Indian passport

Bengaluru: The immigration officials recently arrested a 26-year-old Bangladesh national who was trying to fly to Malaysia, allegedly on a valid Indian passport.

The accused Soyel S. had come to India in 2012 by crossing the border illegally, said the police. “He settled down in Medinipur of West Bengal and rented a house. He was able to obtain Aadhaar and PAN cards using the rental house address,” the police said.

“The accused said he approached a tout identified as Anand in Delhi who helped him get a plane ticket from Kempegowda International Airport to Malaysia for ₹35,000. He told us that he was planning to stay in Malaysia illegally for a few years along with his relatives and friends, who were already living there,” said the police. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
