Flight diverted, passengers 'grounded' in parked plane

Indore: Four Mumbai-bound flights carrying over 500 people on board were diverted to Indore due to bad weather on Tuesday. But reaching Indore by chance proved to be the worst of times for the flyers. Some were forced to be seated in cabin for six hours as their stay of more than 12 hours at Indore airport gradually turned unpleasant to horrific.

The flights were diverted to Indore following heavy rainfall and subsequent congestion at Mumbai airport. Passengers of one of these flights complained that they were forced to sit inside the aircraft for more than six hours awaiting take-off.
"We were forced to stay in aircraft for more than six hours after we reached Indore at 2am. It was only when some of us started protesting, they allowed passengers to go out at around 8.00am," said Pramod Singh, one of the passengers of Go Air's G8-544 Delhi-Mumbai flight while talking to TOI.

Sources said that Go Air's flight G8-544, which took off from Delhi at 10.45pm Monday, was diverted to Indore mid-air due to bad weather conditions in Mumbai. It was supposed to reach Mumbai in one hour fifty minutes, but was delayed and had to be diverted to Indore. It landed in Indore at about 2.00am Tuesday and remained parked till 4.00pm.

"They kept making excuses like the landing was for re-fueling, but did not explain the exact reason behind the diversion," he added.
