Mumbai: India's National Company Law Tribunal appointed resolution professional has received 16,643 claims worth 3.6 billion US dollars from financial and operational creditors of India's beleaguered airline, Jet Airways so far, media reports said Friday.
Out of the total claims of 16,643 claims received, only 33 claims worth 1.23 billion US dollars belonging to financial creditors (banks), have been admitted while the rest are being verified.
"Amounts claimed are yet to be reconciled with the books of accounts and records available with the corporate debtor. Revision, if any, will be updated post verification," said a report from LiveMint newspaper quoting the resolution professional.
Claims amounting to 200.5 million US dollars have been rejected while those worth 2.19 billion US dollars are still being verified.
Lenders had taken the airline to the insolvency court after a bidding process failed to finalise a suitor.
"No investor will be ready to take on the huge liabilities of the airline, which include claims of 1.74 billion US dollars from operational creditors," said the newspaper report quoting an unsolicited bidder for the ailing airline.
