GoAir has denied having plans to fly to Paro and becoming the first foreign carrier to serve the secluded kingdom of Bhutan, The Economic Times has reported.
"Currently we have no plans to operate a flight to Bhutan from New Delhi," the LCC said in a statement to the newspaper.
The Indian newswire PTI previously reported that GoAir would launch flights to Paro with an announcement expected shortly.
The Himalayan landlocked kingdom is largely inaccessible due to extremely challenging terrain that limits the size of aircraft capable of operating to and from Paro. Special pilot training is also required for approaches. According to the ch-aviation capacities module, Paro is currently served by Drukair (KB, Paro) and Bhutan Airlines (B3, Paro). Both airlines operate A319-100s. Drukair also operates ATR turboprops.
