A section of employees of JetLite, a wholly-owned subsidiary of crisis-hit Jet Airways (India) Ltd., plan to move the National Company Law Tribunal to recover Rs 50 crore in salary dues from the grounded airline. Lenders, led by the State Bank of India, moved the Jet Airways insolvency case at the NCLT after they failed to buyer for the debt-ridden airline. Jet Airways was grounded on April 17 for want of funds to stay afloat. Shekhar Nanavaty, a lawyer representing around 150 employees of JetLite, told reporters that they plan to move NCLT for inclusion of the airline in the ongoing proceedings. The resolution professional managing the affairs of Jet Airways did not accept the claims of JetLite employees, he added.
According to Nanavaty, the outstanding dues owed to these 150-odd employees is around Rs 50 crore. These staff include pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers. Anil Shukla, a pilot with JetLite, said there were around 600 employees with the airline.
