Mumbai showers throw Goa flight schedule off

With Chatarapati Shivaji International airport being shut, several flights were diverted to Goa. Over a thousand passengers found themselves stranded at Goa International Airport unsure of when they would get home.

In Goa, despite favourable weather conditions, eight flights were cancelled and multiple delayed for several hours. AAI officials said this was because of diversions of flights and unavailability of aircraft threw arrivals and departures off schedule.

The flooding of the stretch of the railway track between CSTM Mumbai and Thane affected trains traffic along the route, with three being cancelled and two others short terminated at Panvel. Interstate bus service was the least affected with most continuing to ply despite the weather conditions.

A passenger, whose flight was diverted to Goa, said that ground crew at Goa International Airport were uncertain about flight operations at Mumbai.
“I am stuck at Goa airport and unsure whether my flight will even take off. Areas adjoining the airport are waterlogged,” Tanmay said.
