Take a direct flight from KIA to Ethiopia in October

Bengaluru: Ethiopian Airlines has opened reservations for four new weekly direct flights from Kempegowda International Airport to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
The Boeing 737-800 flights will begin operations from late October, connecting Bengaluru to the Ethiopian capital directly for the first time.

While Ethiopia's decision last year to relax its visa rules is the probable reason for the increase in international travel to the country, Addis Ababa also replaced Dubai last year as the primary transit hub for long-haul flights to destinations in Africa.

A report from flight analyst Forward Keys in 2018 said India's bookings to West Asia and Africa in the first quarter of 2018 showed a 19% jump when compared to 2017. According to the report, Ethiopia had shot up to number 1 position among sub-Saharan destinations for international flights between November 2018 and January 2019.

Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates a daily double service to New Delhi and Mumbai from Addis Ababa, and operates freight services to Chennai, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Mumbai.
