Vadodara airport closed, two flights diverted to Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad/Vadodara:As torrential rains lashed Vadodara on Wednesday evening, two flights moving towards Vadodara from Mumbai and Delhi were diverted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Due to heavy rainfall, the runway at Vadodara airport got waterlogged, as a result of which the facility was forced to be shut temporarily for flight movements.
Passengers aboard IndiGo airlines flight, 6E-917, from Mumbai to Vadodara had a harrowing experience due to the flight diversion. The concerned flight, 6E-917, departed at its scheduled time around 3.30pm from Mumbai airport and was scheduled to land at 4.40pm at Vadodara. It landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad at 4.40pm, confirmed well-placed sources.
Vadodara airport director confirmed that the Vadodara airport has been closed for all flight movements, as the runway is waterlogged.
