Cabbies resume operations at Kolkata airport

Kolkata: A day after metered-taxi drivers went on a flash strike for 45 minutes at Kolkata airport in protest against the delay in reimbursement of fares, the situation became normal at the pre-paid taxi counters on Tuesday.
“The situation was normal on Tuesday and we got timely disbursal of our money on production of the counterfoil receipts. Even the counters had opened earlier than usual,” said Amrendra Tiwari, a taxi driver at the airport.
The strike on Monday had left in the lurch several hundred passengers, especially senior citizens, who were not familiar with booking app-cabs with phones, and foreigners, who did not have internet after landing in Kolkata.
