Chennai airport gets a cafe run completely by speech and hearing impaired

New Delhi: In a first for Indian airports, Chennai Airport has got a food and beverage (F&B) outlet that is managed entirely by speech and hearing impaired (SHI) individuals. Leading travel F&B company Travel Food Services (TFS) recently opened “Coffee Box” at Chennai Airport in association with Airport Authority of India (AAI). The company plans to open more such outlets at airports across India.
“With a commitment to create employment opportunities for the SHI community, the outlet was launched this August 2019. TFS has always been focused on bringing diversity and a sense of inclusion in their workforce… there are plans to open more such outlets to create an equal job platform for the SHI community across airports in the country,” TFS said in a statement.
