Flight operations at Kochi airport suspended till Sunday; IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara cancel flights for today

New Delhi: Heavy rains in Kerala affected air services leading to cancellation of several flights on Friday (August 9). The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has suspended all domestic and international flight operations till Sunday (August 11) 3 pm.
Budget airline IndiGo has cancelled all flight operations to/fro Kochi for today (August 9) due to airport closure. The Gurugram-based company in a tweet mentioned that travellers can change the time and/or date of the flight at no additional cost. It gave passengers an option to get a refund, too.
Authorities said that the Kochi international airport runway was waterlogged because of flood. "Kochi Airport closes operations till 1500 hrs of Sunday (11/08/2019)," the airport mentioned in a statement.
No-frills carrier SpiceJet has announced the cancellation of all flight operations for today due to waterlogging at Kochi airport runway. The airline mentioned in a tweet that passengers can either reschedule their journey or take a refund.
The official Twitter handle of Kerala Chief Minister tweeted on Friday, "CIAL has informed that the operations of the Cochin International Airport, Kochi (COK) will remain suspended till 1500 hrs of Sunday (11/08/2019)." The state government has also declared a holiday for Friday for all the schools across the state today.
