Kerala floods: Two Kochi-bound flights from Ahmedabad cancelled

Ahmedabad: The operations of two Kochi-bound flights from Ahmedabad have been cancelled on Friday. These include GoAir flight, G8-701, and IndiGo airlines flight, 6E-667.
While the GoAir flight was scheduled to depart at 10.50am, Indigo airlines flight, 6E-667 was scheduled to depart at 11.15am from SVPI airport in Ahmedabad. Airline sources confirmed that both these flights were cancelled in the wake of the heavy rainfall and flood alert situation in Kochi, Kerala.
The operations of both these flights are likely to remain cancelled till Sunday, in the wake of the flood alert situation. According to the statement issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in Kochi, Kerala, “A detailed assessment has been carried out in the airfield and its close proximity area with regards to the flood alert situation at 6.30am on August 9 (Friday) by the airport director of CIAL. In the wake of this, all the airport operations till 3pm on August 11 (Sunday).”
Apart from operations of outgoing flights, those of two more incoming flights by the same airline have also been cancelled on Friday. These include GoAir flight, G8-702, which departs at 2.05pm from Kochi while IndiGo flight, 6E-668 that operates at 3.20pm.
