Kolhapur-Mumbai flight service to from September 1

Kolhapur: The much-awaited Mumbai-Kolhapur-Mumbai flight service is set to start from September 1.
Kolhapur airport director Kamal Kumar Kataria said private operator TruJet will be operating the service and the booking has already started online.
According to the online booking portals, the service will be carried out from Wednesday to Sunday every week. The flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport will leave for Kolhapur on the said days at 12.55 pm and will reach Kolhapur at 2.05 pm. The flight for Mumbai will depart from Kolhapur airport at 2.30 pm and will arrive at Mumbai at 3.40 pm. The fare for the flight are Rs 2,065 for both the routes.
Kataria told TOI that the meeting between the GVK, the private sector airport operator, officials, TruJet authorities and the Kolhapur Airport authorities to discuss the possibility of morning slot did not happen. However, one of the demands of guardian minister Chandrakant Patil of a five-day slot has been approved.
Traders and frequent flyers said the service would prove quite beneficial for the city’s growth. They, however, raised concerns regarding continuity of the service. Last year, Air Deccan too had started the flight but could not sustain for long and had to be cancelled eventually.
