Kolkata-bound flight grounded at Patna airport

Patna: Budget carrier SpiceJet’s Kolkata-bound flight (SG-376/378) from Mumbai was grounded at the Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport on Thursday due to a technical glitch in its engine .
According to SpiceJet executives, a technical problem was detected after the Mumbai-Patna-Kolkata flight landed here at 9.25am and its onward journey was suspended temporarily. It was scheduled to leave for Kolkata at 9.55am.
SpiceJet station manager (Patna) Syed Hasan dismissed rumours of a bird strike. “Neither was there a bird strike nor a hard landing and all the passengers and crew are safe. Our engineers are trying to figure out the problem and solve it,” Hasan told this newspaper.
Meanwhile, passengers, who were supposed to fly to Kolkata, remained stranded at the Patna airport. They also had a tiff with SpiceJet executives over the delay in flight.
One of the passengers, Kundan Kumar, said, “After waiting for almost two hours, we were informed that the aircraft had developed a technical glitch.”
