Man enters runway at domestic airport, tries to stop SpiceJet

In a shocking incident that highlights loopholes in the security of Mumbai airport, a man managed to make his way on to the runway and stop a plane.
The incident occurred earlier today (August 22). A SpiceJet flight to Bengaluru, scheduled to depart at 1:10 pm, was on the N1 taxiway at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's Terminal 1 (domestic terminal) when the man surprisingly reached the runway and walked towards the aircraft. He even walked under the aircraft all the way from its cockpit till its wheels.
A video taken by a bystander shows him comfortably sauntering around under the aircraft and even touching the wheels. He was finally caught by cops from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
According to CISF, the man managed to reach the runway where the SpiceJet flight was waiting for takeoff by jumping over the perimeter wall. He was picked up by CISF personnel and on questioning, he said he wanted to see a plane. While cops refused to reveal the man's identity, they stated that he is a resident of Sion. The CISF handed him over to the Airport Police who made enquiries and traced his brother. The brother said he was undergoing psychiatric treatment and had skipped his treatment today. He lives in the slums behind the domestic airport.
