Navy restrictions affecting Vizag's air connectivity?

Visakhapatnam: After Navy denied Alliance Air new slots to operate services from Visakhapatnam airport on the grounds that the slots are full, Air Travellers Association opines that the Navy is a deterrent for the development of the city as new flights which are in demand are unable to start services due to restrictions from Navy.
The city is also losing connectivity thanks to continuous withdrawal of flights.
Keeping in view the unidirectional runway in Visakhapatnam airport, only 12-13 slots are available per hour. Moreover, the Navy restrictions from 6 pm to 10 pm is making it difficult for new flights to come in because around 10 slots in an hour are used for navy operations and there are only three slots for civilian movements, say sources.
O Naresh Kumar, Vice-President of APATA, said, "The reduction of number of flights over a period from 80 to 59 per day is disturbing. There is a high demand for additional flights for want of connectivity. Due to restrictions on time slots, airlines are not willing to operate"
