Smiths Detection sets up new facility to serve airports in India

UK-based security solutions provider Smiths Detection has opened a new training and experience centre in India to serve airport clients.
Located in Gurugram in the state of Haryana, the service centre has been set up with an investment of $1.5m.
The facility will house a training centre, customer call centre, rework depot, parts warehouse and customer experience lab.
Built across 11,000ft², the new facility will be used by Smiths Detection to better serve its clients across Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
In addition to airports, the centre will also be used to support companies working at ports, borders and in the hospitality industry.
Smiths Detection Asia Pacific and Middle East vice-president Jerome de Chassey said: “Smiths Detection’s continued investment in the region reflects our commitment to the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
“The new service, training and experience centre in India will allow us to work with customers to implement future-proof threat detection strategies and provide training to use our technology most effectively.”
Smiths Detection said that the hub will be used to provide training on its computed tomography X-ray (CTX) and explosives trace detection (ETD) systems.
Technical training on conventional X-ray screening systems (CXS), metal detectors and networking solutions will also be offered at the new facility.
