Aviation scam: CBI arrests Deepak Talwar's close associate in FCRA violation case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said that the agency has arrested Yasmeen Kapoor, a close associate of aviation lobbyist Deepak Talwar, in connection with an alleged violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) case.

A senior CBI official close to the development told IANS, "We have arrested Yasmeen Kapoor today."

Yasmeen has been arrested in connection with the probe agency's investigation into a 2017 case of Foreign Contribution (regulation) Act, 2010, the official said.

The CBI had registered a case on November 16, 2017 on a complaint from Ministry of Home Affairs against New Delhi-based private firms Advantage lndia, Accordis Health Care Private Limited, and Deepak Talwar of Advantage lndia, Sunil Khandelwal and Raman Kapoor of Accordis Health Care Private Limited and other unknown people.

The CBI is probing alleged violations of the FCRA 2010, criminal conspiracy, forgery, making false statement before authority, use of forged documents, and attempt to cheat by the accused.
Earlier in July, Deepak Talwar was arrested by the CBI in connection with the aviation scam. According to the probe agency, Deepak Talwar, who was recently deported from Dubai, illegally engaged in liasoning/lobbying with politicians, ministers, other public servants and officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation for airlines such as Emirates, Air Arabia and Qatar Airways for securing undue benefits for them.
