Leading dispute resolution lawyer made IndiGo’s independent woman director

New Delhi: IndiGo has appointed an independent woman director — a well known dispute resolution lawyer — resolving yet another conflict point between its co-founders Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal. The airline told BSE Friday that the board InterGlobe Aviation Limited (airline’s parent company) approved Pallavi Shardul Shroff’s appointment with effect from Thursday.
“Shroff is the managing partner of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Company with over 37 years of experience…. Shroff is the head of dispute resolution practice at the firm, with knowledge in matters of litigation and arbitration…. Shroff has been closely involved with some of the largest and most challenging litigation and arbitration matters in India.… She has recently been appointed on the International Chamber of Commerce Court of Arbitration,” IndiGo said in a statement. Shroff is also a director on the boards of listed companies like Apollo Tyres and Asian Paints.
Shroff said: “I am pleased to join the board of directors at such a pivotal moment in IndiGo’s journey as it progresses towards strengthening its position as India’s leading airline. The aviation sector in India is among the fastest growing internationally and that makes IndiGo’s story and goals quite compelling. I look forward to contributing my experience to support the company in enhancing its growth and maximizing value for its shareholders.”
