A jumbo jet that once flew for Air India flying Mexico deportees back to India

New Delhi: The 300-odd Indians being deported from Mexico are coming on a jumbo jet that once used to fly for Air India. The 25-year-old aircraft was registered in India as VT-AIS when flying for the Maharaja on lease for 15 months from 2007. AI had leased it from Malaysia Airlines, where this aircraft had began its journey. AI has the same model of B747-400.
Now bringing back Indian deportees, the B747 currently registered as EC-KXN is expected to land in Delhi at 5.45 am Friday morning. "The Boeing 747-400 is flying here from Mexico with a fuelling stop in Madrid. The aircraft operator is Windsor Investment (Quick Aviation in India). It will begin its return journey from Delhi at 11.45pm on Friday," said a person in the know.
