Airline seat crunch delaying arrival of Shillong archbishop’s body

Shillong: Amid increasing curiosity among the masses about the non-arrival of the mortal remains of Archbishop of Shillong Dominic Jala till date, the Archbishop’s House on Thursday informed the media that the delay has been caused due to the unavailability of seats in airlines flying from San Francisco to New Delhi.
Addressing media persons, general secretary of Catholic Association, Shillong, Barnabas Nongbah, said, “This media interaction has been organised due to a lot of false information being circulated about the arrival of the mortal remains of Archbishop. We don’t want to speculate anything that is not sure when the mortal remains will arrive. Whatever information we have we will inform you.”
While addressing the media, acting chancellor of Archbishop’s House, Father Jimmy Marngar, said, “We understand the anguish and longing of the people to know the exact date and time of the arrival of late Archbishop Dominic Jala. I assure you that we are doing everything possible to bring back the body of Archbishop as early as possible.”
Meghalaya legislator Vincent Pala flew to the United States on Wednesday to coordinate with the Indian Consular office to ensure a smooth transfer of the mortal remains from California to Shillong. Pala and three priests are in the United States to do the needful and accompany the body to India.
