Conduct disability access audit of airports: DB

Srinagar: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali today directed the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to ensure strict compliance to the directions regarding making Jammu, Leh and Srinagar airports completely accessible to the differently abled.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed, “AAI has filed status report dated 17th July, 2019 in compliance of the directions made by us in order dated 14th May 2019. However, this report does not comply with direction regarding disability access audit”.
Accordingly, DB directed Airport Authority of India to specifically comply with this direction and conduct disability access audit of the three airports. “Recommendation shall be obtained so that all the three airports are made completely accessible to the differently abled”, the DB added, adding “AAI shall ensure that all measures as are essential for enabling access to the airports as well as aircrafts and all other facilities are provided at the airports”.
