'Name Chandigarh airport as Guru Nanak Dev Ji International Airport'

Mohali: To commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, members of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa society demanded to name Chandigarh International Airport as Guru Nanak Dev Ji International Airport.
The members of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society said that they have written a letter to Hardeep Singh Puri, union minister of aviation and also to Prime Minister of India urging them to name the airport in the name of first Sikh Guru.
Led by general secretary Harjit Singh Sabharwal, they said that they would take this opportunity to express gratitude on the decision of the Union Cabinet to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji throughout the country and across the globe, in a grand and befitting manner. The proactive action of Government of India in ensuring opening of Kartarpur corridor, starting of Sarbat da Bhala Train, visit of 90 foreign envoys to Golden Temple are laudable steps.
Sabharwal said, "Mohali has a New International Airport without a proper name. It will be a befitting tribute to Guru Nanak Dev jl if Chandigarh (Mohali) International Airport is named as Guru Nanak Dev Ji International Airport."
In their letter they prayed, "We request your kind approval for the same and also request you to announce the same and make a special visit to the Punjab in connection with these celebrations."
Chandigarh International Airport has always been a bone of contention between the two governments that is Punjab and Haryana as the two states have been claiming stakes by naming Chandigarh International Airport according to their political interests.
