Passenger footfall down 15% at airport

Indore: Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport still seems to be facing the impact of Jet Airways shut down as monthly passenger footfall at the airport declined by over 15%. Airport officials said that Jet Airways operated around 10 flights till March, and has apparently caused the decline.
However, they expect an increase in traffic with airlines like Vistara launching flight operations from Indore under new winter schedule which came into effect from October 26.
As per official figure, there is a 15.7 per cent decline in total number of passengers flew to and from Indore airport in September this year as compared to last year. Around 2.24 lakh travelled to and from Indore airport in September 2019 while last year the figure was around 2.66 lakh in same month.
Passenger footfall has gone down by 41,814, says a survey of Airport Authority of India (AAI). The survey conducted from April to September, 2019 also shows a decline of 61,623 passengers as compared to the same period last year. Around 13.94 lakh people travelled to and from Indore airport from April to September this year as compared to 14.56 lakh last year.
