Mohali: Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.283 kg of gold, worth around Rs 49.11 lakh, from a passenger travelling on the Dubai-Chandigarh flight, which landed at the Chandigarh international airport at Mohali around 10.30 am today.
The passenger, Abdul Hafiz from Delhi, had concealed the booty in a cavity of an electric iron. Besides, he has also attached gold rings in a ladies purse to dodge the authorities concerned. The rings had a metallic coating.
According to sources, the DRI sleuths had got a tip-off in this regard. A case in this connection has been registered and investigation are on.
