Udaipur flight takes off after 21 years

Aurangabad: The Aurangabad-Udaipur air connectivity has been re-established after 21 years, with the Air India restarting flights on the Udaipur-Aurangabad-Mumbai route, on Wednesday.
The Air India AI 605 plane took off for Udaipur from Aurangabad at 7.15am. Later, the Air India AI 606 reached Aurangbad from Udaipur at 11 am.
The aircraft has a capacity of 140 passengers. Aurangabad Airport director DG Salve said, “Currently, the flight is running three days a week- Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. If the response increases, the carrier can increase the frequency.”
This is significant for growth of tourism in Aurangabad.. Jaswant Singh, president of Tourism Promotors’ Guild Aurangabad, said, “Until now Aurangabad was used for transit or as an add-on-destination. However, with the flights to Udaipur, Aurangabad has come into the mainstream itinerary of the country,” Singh said.
