Cabbies want airport time-limit back

Jaipur: Days after the Airports Authority of India decided not to charge money from taxi drivers dropping and receiving passengers at Jaipur International Airport, taxi drivers on Wednesday alleged that they were still being asked to pay at the time of entry.
The taxi drivers’ association demanded that the previous eight-minute time-limit norm be reintroduced or else they would not get their vehicles inside the airport from Thursday.

The airport officials, however, claimed that no one was being charged and the removal of the time limit was for both private and commercial vehicles.

Dilip Singh Mehrauli, state president, All Rajasthan Tourist Car Association told TOI, “Even after removing the time limit, the airport is charging Rs 40 from cab drivers at the time of entry. They have allowed three-minute stop in the porch, which is too short a time to pick up or drop passengers. We want that this time limit be increased.”
