GCCI asks AAI to throw open multi-level car park

Panaji: Stakeholders of Goa’s tourism sector in a meeting with officials of Goa International Airport, urged the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to throw open the multi-level car parking facility next to the airport, at Dabolim. Goa Airport director Gagan Malik said that while AAI was keen on throwing open the multi-level parking facility, resistance to use and pay for the service was thwarting such plans.
Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s tourism committee met Malik and provided recommendations to improve the infrastructure at Goa International Airport. Malik assured the delegation that AAI had already taken steps to improve infrastructure at the airport.
The commercial bidding process to run the multi-level car parking facility could not materialise as the ground situation does not make it viable due to taxi operators’ refusal to pay parking and access fees, said Malik.
