GoAir flight from Bengaluru diverts to Hyderabad for runway closure

Pune: A GoAir flight from Bengaluru with over 150 passengers on board was diverted to Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon because it did not get the permission to land at Lohegaon airport owing to an Indian Air Force exercise.
The arrival and departure of four flights each were also delayed between 2pm and 3pm.
A senior official of the Indian Air Force (IAF) said the runway was shut for a short duration on Thursday for operational purpose. “Since it is an IAF runway, operation activities go on a regular basis. On a few occasions, we have to adjust or abort civil flight schedule,” he said.
The diverted GoAir flight (G8 241) took off from Bengaluru around 12.30pm. GoAir, in its official statement, said, “The GoAir flight (G8 241) from Bengaluru to Pune was diverted to Hyderabad owing to Air Force movement at Pune. GoAir regrets any inconvenience caused to its passengers.”
Gyan Raunak, one of the passengers, said the flight had left for Pune from Bengaluru on time. “It was scheduled to reach Pune at 1.40pm. However, no one bothered to announce what was wrong till 2.30pm. A proper announcement came from pilot at 3.15pm upon reaching Hyderabad,” Raunak told TOI.
