Helpdesk at Indore airport to assist deaf and mute

Indore: Deaf and mute people visiting Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport would no longer have to face difficulty in getting information about flight operations or other services or facilities. Such a facility airport officials claim is first in the country.
Indore airport authorities are planning to set up ‘May I Help You’ counters on airport premises for convenience of such visitors and passengers. These counters would be started within a week, said officials.

Airport director Aryama Sanyal said that two such counters would be set up on airport premises including one at arrival hall and the other at departure hall of terminal building.

“This helpdesk service will be all visitors and passengers, but it will also have employees trained in sign language to communicate properly with deaf and mute passengers and visitors,” said Sanyal.
