Hyderabad-bound AI flight delayed in Jeddah over 13 hours

Jeddah: Passengers of a Hyderabad-bound Air India flight were held up for more than 13 hours on Sunday after their flight was delayed. The passengers mainly Umrah pilgrims, who reached airport in advance, were most affected besides NRI workers who come from different nearby areas.
Air India flight AI 966 was scheduled to depart at 11:15 pm from Jeddah to Hyderabad on Saturday but didn’t leave until 12:51 pm on Sunday.
An Air India official attributed the delay to arrival of a crew from India. The crew starts from New Delhi to Kochi from where it arrives in Jeddah and then again flies to Hyderabad. However, there was delay in crew arrival from Kochi to Jeddah.
The elderly passengers and women complained about long delay. “It has disrupted entire our joy and pleasure”, said Shaikh Omar, who hails from Hyderabad, one of the passengers. The passengers were provided hotel accommodation and food by Air India.
