Bhopal: State capital’s Raja Bhoj Airport is all set to have immigration facility as the joint central team that reviewed the arrangements at the airport has not found any major hurdle in starting the facility. With this, international flights can operate from the airport.
The joint team comprising members of Union home and civil aviation ministry in its report has suggested several changes for setting up the immigration facility including counters, which Bhopal airport authorities have agreed upon. The team visited the Bhopal airport on November 4 to assess the available infrastructure and the required manpower for carrying out immigration functions smoothly.
The 14-point report by the team suggested several changes. Team did not find proper demarcation of immigration area in departure and arrival. On the team’s suggestion airport authorities have agreed to make changes accordingly.
For immigration training, team suggested that local police personnel are to be trained. Other important suggestions were about installing UV lamps, magnifying and immigration stamps along with other possible assistance. Two leased lines, application software, computers, full page readers, web cameras, finger print devices and such others were also suggested by the joint team.
