Mumbai: IndiGo Wednesday announced it has become a member of the global lobbying body the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a step which will help India’s biggest airline forge commercial partnerships with member airlines across the world.
The airline became the second low fare carrier in India after SpiceJet to get an IATA membership. IATA is a group of more than 290 member airlines. National carrier Air India and Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, are also members.
IndiGo, which has an aggressive fleet expansion and overseas growth strategy, has till now signed codeshare partnerships with Qatar Airways Turkish Airlines.
It entered into new markets including Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, China, Myanmar and Vietnam in 2019.
