Kandla-Ahmedabad direct flight from November 18

Rajkot: Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of state-run Air India will start direct flight between Ahmedabad and port town Kandla from Monday (November 18). This operation will commence under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) — UDAN initiated by central government for smaller airport.

The flight will provide onward connectivity from Kandla to Nashik and Hydrabad via Ahmedabad. This will significantly reduce the travel for those wanting to travel to Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

This will be the third daily flight to operate from Kandla airport. Currently, SpiceJet and Turejet operate a daily flight for Mumbai and Ahmedabad respectively from Kandla airport. This will provide better connectivity for Kutch’s commercial hub Gandhidham and one of country’s major ports Dindayal Port.

Talking to TOI, Kandla airport director Sanjeev Menghal said, “This will be 72-seater aircraft which will operate five days a week.”
