Separate lanes for taxis and private vehicles at Jaipur airport soon

Jaipur: In order to de-congest the Jaipur airport, especially its porch area, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Jaipur will come up with separate lanes for private vehicles and taxis. As the system would be launched, the private taxis would be charged for it.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Jaideep Balhara, director, AAI, Jaipur said that in order to de-congest the airport, the authorities are chalking out modalities to have separate exit gates for different vehicles. He said that the new parking system is easier and convenient for the passengers and is being introduced to de-congest the porch area. “This is a long-term plan and will take time as we need to make some structural changes,” he added.

Balhara further clarified the take of AAI, Jaipur on the new parking policy which is misunderstood by a section of private taxi operators and private vehicles coming to the airport.

“Earlier, the time-limit for vehicles from the point a vehicle entered and the point the vehicle exited was eight minutes and vehicles needed to take a slip while entering. This has been abolished. However, any vehicle in the porch area which is there to pick and drop passengers is not supposed to stay beyond three minutes. Though we have not yet penalized anyone so far as the marshals are making people aware of not overstaying in the porch area for more than three minutes. However, in later course vehicles would be penalized,” he added.
