Bengaluru airport to get world-class entertainment arena

Mumbai/Bengaluru: At a time when international artists are warming up to the Indian audiences by adding Mumbai or Delhi to their tours, Bengaluru is going to be the first city to soon have a world class experiential and entertainment destination on the lines of the Madison Square Garden, New York, and the O2 Arena, London.
The entertainment destination for global and Indian artists will be built at a budget of over Rs 100 crore on a land parcel of 6.3 acres, tendered out by the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL). The arena is built by a consortium of Live Nation Entertainment, Phase 1 Experiences and the Embassy Group and is expected to be open in the next 18-20 months.
Live Nation, the world’s leading live entertainment company, which does over 30,000 annual concerts and owns over 200 venues, including Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, 3 Arena in Dublin and Spark Arena in Auckland, will act as consultant to the consortium on the development of the project. It will manage both the mobilisation of the venue and the programming of international artists.
“We’re pleased to be able to contribute to the establishment of this world-class venue, both in terms of supporting the mobilisation and subsequently the programming of international artists. We look forward to bringing our touring artists and live events here as soon as the doors open, and for years to come,” said Paul Antonio, president - Asia and Middle East, Live Nation.
