Pune: The Shirdi airport will partially reopen for flight operations from Wednesday, almost after a month.
“SpiceJet will begin partial operations from the airport from Wednesday. Flights to Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad will depart from afternoon. IndiGo still hasn’t taken a call on starting its flights, but we hope it will do so soon,” Deepak Shastri, the director of the airport, told TOI.
A response from the spokesperson of IndiGo was awaited till the time of going to press.
“We have been in touch with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the entire time. The air traffic control (AIC) is under the control of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and it has cleared the landings and take-offs to and from the airport now,” an MADC (Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited)) official said.
“We are expecting operations to return to normal soon,” the official added.
The airport was shut down from November 14 for all flight operations because of poor visibility. After a week, both SpiceJet and IndiGo, which have flights to different destinations from Shirdi airport, shifted their base to Aurangabad.
