Folk artiste’s luggage misplaced by airlines

A popular folk singer and Padma shri awardee was harrowed on Saturday, after she realised that the airliner she was travelling with had sent her luggage from Pune to Port Blair instead of Lucknow.
Malini Awasthi, the renowned singer, was in Pune to perform at NH7 Weekender. She was returning home when the incident took place. The singer had flown to Pune from Varanasi via Hyderabad on the morning of November 29.
After her performance, Awasthi boarded the IndiGo flight 6E 836 from Pune to Lucknow at 3.30 am.
However, as soon as she landed, she realised that her baggage was missing. When she inquired at the counter, she was told that the luggage had already reached Kolkata and was bound for Port Blair.
Appalled by the incident, the singer took to Twitter and tagged the airline in the tweet that received 133 retweets, 39 comments and 788 likes.
“I had a tough time getting my luggage. I had to create a lot of ruckuses until my luggage was to be delivered back,” Awasthi told Mirror.
Her followers and fans showed sympathy and criticised the airline for carelessness. Some of her fans also shared similar experiences faced by them.
Awasthi said that she was able to receive the luggage by 6 pm.
A spokesperson from IndiGo airlines confirmed that the baggage was indeed misplaced. “We do not know what caused the issue — whether it was a technical or a manual fault,” he said.
The official added that the luggage was not sent to Port Blair.
