Coimbatore: With IndiGo adding at least three new flightsone each to Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, frequent domestic travellers in the city now have four options to fly into the destinations.
IndiGo’s new schedule, which was launched on December 1, includes seven flights to Chennai and four flights each to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. By adding a 11.15am flight to Chennai, they close a crucial gap in their flights from 10am to 4.40am.
“After Jet Airways pulled out, we suddenly faced a shortage in the number of mid-day flights, especially those at noon. We had only one Air India flight,” says T Ramraj, a businessman and frequent flier. “Now this gives a mid-morning option, which allows leisure travellers to leave home by 9.30am or so, check in by 10.15am and reach Chennai by lunch time,” he says.
The airline has also introduced an extra early morning flight to Bengaluru and Hyderabad, making it four flights to each destination. “This schedule, which now has an 8.25am flight to Bengaluru and a 6.45am flight to Hyderabad, offers at least one flight each for morning, afternoon and night, giving flyers more flexibility. It allows business travellers to fly in early and return by night, avoiding an overnight stay,” says Aadhav Raj, a travel agent.
