IndiGo flight delay compels flyers to sit in aircraft

Pune: The passengers on board an IndiGo flight to Ahmedabad were made to sit in the aircraft for over an hour-and-a-half after boarding the plane almost an hour behind the scheduled departure time of 11.35pm on Monday.
The flight (6E673) was to take off from Pune at 11.35pm on Monday and reach the destination by 12.50am, on Tuesday.

Passengers claimed that they were told that the cause of the delay was due to a member of the cabin having reported sick.

Vishal Balwani, a passenger on board the flight, posted on Twitter, “The flight was supposed to take off from Pune around 11.35pm. The departure time was revised four times and we were forced to board the aircraft at 12.30am despite knowing that the pilot had reported sick. The flight finally took off at 2.15am, which meant sitting inside the aircraft for around an hour-and-a-half.”

A source in IndiGo said the flight was delayed when it came from a city in north India. “As it was getting ready to take off, the flight and duty time limitation (FDTL) of the crew came into play. Hence, a new crew had to be arranged for and it caused the delay. No one in the cabin crew was sick,” a spokesperson told TOI.
