Kannur: With the Kannur International Airport all set to celebrate its first anniversary, the collective of the passengers in the maiden flight, to Abu Dhabhi, on the inaugural day on December 9, 2018, are all set to embark on a different campaign to get the nod for the foreign operators from Kial, as part of which nearly 100 among them would fly to Abu Dhabi on the anniversary day from here.
A special committee, historic flight journey committee, set up for the purpose, said that their aim is not just to relive that moment when they travelled in the maiden flight, but also to make the authorities take steps to ensure proper development of the airport.
“Though the airport is one of the biggest facilities in the state, it would be able to realize the dream of the region only when there are more flights, especially the bigger aircraft by foreign operators,” said C Jayachandran, chairman of the committee and an entrepreneur, who travelled in the first flight from Kial.
The aim of this unique campaign is to let the world hear their voice and the demand for more aircraft from Kannur, without creating any provocation, he said, adding that such an air travel for a cause would be for the first time in the history of world aviation.
Apart from this, they are also organizing a development seminar, ‘Kannur-Runway to future’, in Kannur and Dubai on December 8 and 10 respectively, to invite the attention of the authorities and also to ensure the development of the airport, said the people behind the mission.
