Kolhapur: Kolhapur airport director Kamalkumar Kataria has indicated that the Kolhapur-Mumbai air service will resume from December 28, just a few weeks after it was stalled due to afternoon slot issues at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai.
Kataria said they had received phenomenal response for the route and the number of inquiries from flyers has increased after the air service was halted.
Traders and frequent flyers said the service was proving quite beneficial for them and the city’s growth. They raised concerns regarding continuity of the service. Last year, Air Deccan too had started the flight on the route, but could not sustain it. It was eventually scrapped in September 2018.
Notably, Trujet had got the nod to operate the flight service on Kolhapur-Mumbai route in January this year from the ministry of civil aviation and Airports Authority of India. The nod was given under the Regional Connectivity Scheme also known as UDAN 3 (Ude Desh ka Aaam Naagrik) scheme.
