Mid-air scare: Another P&W engine on Bengaluru-bound IndiGo Neo suffers snag; second incident in a week

Mumbai: An IndiGo A320 Neo aircraft had to return to Mumbai airport after take-off because of high engine vibrations. This is the second time that an A320 Neo aircraft has encountered vibration issues with its Pratt and Whitney (P&W) engines. The airline has ordered inspections till then the aircraft will remain grounded.

The aircraft (6E-236) was on its way to Bengaluru from Mumbai when the pilot decided to turn back after noticing a caution advisory in one of the instrument panels.
The P&W engine which powers the fleet of A320 Neo planes operated by IndiGo and GoAir have been facing glitches both mid-air and on-ground since their induction in 2016.

Issuing a statement IndiGo said: "An IndiGo NEO A320 aircraft was operating Mumbai-Bangalore this morning. During flight pilot observed caution message. Standard operating procedures were followed and aircraft returned to Mumbai as a precaution. Aircraft is currently under inspection in Mumbai."
