Oxford, Mississippi doctor pleads guilty to groping woman on plane, will leave the U.S.

A pediatrician practicing in Oxford, Mississippi has pleaded guilty to groping a sleeping woman's breast during an airplane flight from New York to Memphis.

He will pay a fine and leave the United States, according to federal court documents.

Dr. Rajesh Subramanya had worked at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi through a staffing agency but was removed following his arrest, a spokeswoman for the Baptist hospital group said.

The doctor entered a guilty plea Thursday to a charge of simple assault, a misdemeanor, according to recently unsealed court records.

He was sentenced to one year probation, a $3,000 fine and a special assessment of $10, according to the records.

The physician holds passports from both the United Kingdom and India, according to the records. A court docket entry says, "Defendant to return to the United Kingdom."
