Dibrugarh: The district administration, considering the woes of the flight passengers to Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi and other destinations following the NESO sponsored 11-hour bandh, had arranged ASTC bus service from Dibrugarh to Mohanbari Airport, to and fro, with adequate security personnel.
As a result, the flight passengers reached the airport without any hassles and flew to their respective destination safely. Similarly, the incoming passengers also availed the same facility from the airport to their respective destination despite non-availability of any mode of transport in the road. This move was welcomed by all and passengers expressed their gratitude to the district administration in general and DC Pallav Gopal Jha in particular who personally monitored the entire process.
Meanwhile, the 11-hour NESO bandh completely paralyzed normal life in Upper Assam. Skirmishes between protesters and police over burning of car tyres were reported from many places of the district. Flaring up of gas pipeline near Naliapool Masjid also caused considerable panic among the residents but there was no report of any major damage.
