Vasco:As part of their corporate social responsibility, the Airport Authority of India has approved an amount of Rs15 crore to fund a 10-tonne biodigester plant in the vicinity of Chicalim village.
They will also set up four materials recovery facility (MRF) sheds, besides a baling machine, forklifts and dustbins to help curb the garbage menace around the Goa international airport in Dabolim.
The biodigester plant will treat garbage generated from Chicalim panchayat, Chicolna - Bogmalo panchayat, Sancoale panchayat, part of Hollant and from AAI , and will help them generate electricity. Panchayats and transport minister Mauvin Godhino said, "The decision was taken at AAI’s board meeting held in Delhi on December 6, to come up with a state-of-the-art 10 tonne biodigester plant for Chicalim."
