Talks on for air link to Dubai, Bangkok & Colombo

Aurangabad: Aurangabad Tourism Development Foundation (ATDF) has said that talks were on with operators for flights to Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok and Colombo.
The announcement was made at an event held in city to mark the National Tourism Day on January 25.

Over 11 months, flight operations at Aurangabad Airport have increased from six to 30. Much of this increase has been credited to the efforts of hotelier Sunit Kothari, ATDF president Jaswant Singh, president of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Pranob Sarkar, IATO vice-president Rajeev Mehra, and Aurangabad airport director D G Salve.

There was a widespread impact on travel to the region following the grounding of Jet Airways flights in March last year. Subsequently, the team was responsible for continued follow-ups with airlines and the ministry of civil aviation. Currently, Aurangabad Airport hosts Air India, Trujet, Indigo and Spicejet flights. It is linked to Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
