Airport director to focus on flights

Pune: New director of the city airport Kuldip Singh on Wednesday said he would talk to all stakeholders to identify the reasons behind the drop in the number of flight movements and passengers at the facility.
He said proper data on the load factor of the discontinued flights and the overall data available with the travel agents, airlines and hotels would be studied to know the technical reasons and find solutions.
After assuming charge, Singh said the fact that the Lohegaon airport was an Indian Air Force base must be respected for the sake of national security. “In any defence airport, which is also a civil enclave, the issue of slots remains. I plan to talk with all stakeholders so that a roadmap can be prepared,” Singh told TOI.
“As far as passenger facilities are concerned, a shed — from the arrival to parking number-2 (the pick-up point now) — will come up before monsoon this year,” he said.
