Airport intruder sent to Gwalior mental hosp

Bhopal: Doctors on Wednesday recommended sending Yogesh Tripathi — who breached the Raja Bhoj airport security and vandalized a chopper at the state hangar and blocked a plane — to Gwalior’s mental hospital.
He will be sent to the mental hospital from Bhopal jail at night.

During the check-up of the 22-year-old, Hamidia hospital doctors found that he was suffering from acute psychosis. Psychosis is characterized by an impaired relationship with reality. It is a symptom of serious mental disorders. People who are experiencing psychosis may have either hallucinations or delusions. The person experiencing psychosis may also have thoughts that are contrary to actual evidence.

Realizing his situation, doctors recommended sending him to the mental hospital. After discharge from hospital, Tripathi was taken to Bhopal central jail, from where he will be sent to Gwalior mental hospital. Bhopal jail superintendent, Dinesh Nargawe, told TOI that formalities have been completed and Tripathi would be sent to Gwalior by midnight.

The youth was admitted to Hamidia hospital on Tuesday after his condition deteriorated in Gandhi Nagar police custody. Doctors kept him under observation for 24 hours to assess his mental condition. The accused had even turned violent when he was being taken to hospital and tore the uniform of a policeman and allegedly bit some other cops.
