Two Bangladeshis held with fake passports

Bengaluru: Immigration officials at Kempegowda International Airport arrested two Bangladeshis for possessing fake Indian passports. The duo was detained while trying to board a Malaysia-bound flight on Saturday. Akel Barua Roy Tanmoy, 28, of Lohagara and Tiul Barua Das Arnab, 21, told police they had come to India in October 2019 by sneaking in through the West Bengal border. Catching a train from Kolkata, they arrived in Bengaluru later.

“In Bengaluru, the duo approached an agent who helped them get an Indian passport with fake documents. In December 2019, they went to Nagpur and became monks. Stating they were visiting Malaysia for spiritual purposes, they got visa,” police said. “The address and other details in the passports were not clear. When questioned about their citizenship, they failed to provide proper answers,” sources said.
